James 1:27 - Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
The word ‘religion’ has a bad repute;
Most Christians tend to run away from it,
But in its purest form is resolute:
The very depth of love you can commit.
Compassion borne from Christ inside of you
Will draw you to the destitute and poor:
The widowed, orphaned and the desperate few
Spurs you to service that you can’t ignore.
Be subject to the Spirit and He’ll draw
Your heart’s desire from the world at large
Where men obey the fleshly rules of law,
And toward unspotted realm where God’s in charge.
The true religion takes a servant’s path:
A walk of grace and not the walk of wrath.
